Olga Lexell just wrapped as a staff writer on the Saturn Award-winning and Emmy-nominated Netflix show Cobra Kai, where she co-wrote episode 610. Prior to her promotion, she was a Writers’ Assistant, Script Coordinator, and Showrunner’s Assistant on shows like Cobra Kai (seasons 4-5), Queen of the South (seasons 2-4), Raised By Wolves (seasons 1-2), Girls Code (pilot), The Son in Law (pilot), The White Darkness (limited), Interrogation (limited), and probably several others she’s forgetting at the moment. Her manager is Matt Dartnell at Writ Large.
Olga was born in Kyiv, Ukraine and grew up in Chicago with brief stints of living in London and Tokyo. She trained in sketch comedy at the Upright Citizens Brigade after attending USC’s School of Cinematic Arts.
Beyond TV and film, she also writes short stories and was the runner-up for the Stephen Dixon Award in Short Fiction for her published horror story “Ashes.” Her online writing has been featured in publications like McSweeney's, Reductress, Paste Magazine, Autostraddle, Cracked, Buzzfeed, and Splitsider. She low key really wants to get into Shouts & Murmurs but it’s a tough crowd.
Outside of writing and watching too many baseball games, she has a lot of experience being a busybody in local politics. Having grown up with a mental disability and crushes on both men and women, she’s an advocate for governments that don’t want to kill her and has been involved in multiple political campaigns including Bernie 2020, Bubba Fish for Culver City Council, Kenneth Mejia for LA City Controller, and Measure HLA. In her spare time she has served on local governing bodies like the LA Metro’s Public Safety Advisory Committee.
